ELI is a Gothic Metal act fronted by Italian singer Eliza
Pezzuto. The debut album "Darkness Will Fall"
is to be released by Lion Music on December 5th 2008.
“Darkness Will Fall” sees gothic metal fused
with symphonic and progressive elements blended to make
an accessible album created to showcase the vocal abilities
of Eli.
The album has some traits that can be compared to Evanescence
or Within Temptation yet the album has its own flavour
and unique personality with its strong classical and symphonic
edge. The music shows an expansion of the musical styling’s
Lars Eric Mattsson has turned to in recent years, yet
“Darkness Will Fall” should be considered
more of a framework for the vocals of Eli. Lyrically the
album touches on personal relationships, how mankind is
treating planet and more.
The album was written between January 2008 and July 2008
and the recordings took place in Finland (music) and Italy
(vocals). All the music was composed and produced by Lars
Eric Mattsson. The actual recordings for “Darkness
Will Fall” took place between March and September
2008 and was mixed in October at the new Lion’s
Cage studio, Finland.

Book Of Reflections – Chapter II:
Unfold The Future is a potent musically accomplished mix of
progressive metal and classic hard rock, showcasing strong
melodic sensibilities. Lyrically the album is varied
focusing on topics from distrust in the political world to a
celebration of life along with a couple of sad love songs.
“The idea was to continue where the first album ended and
take the music a few steps forward. The songs are a little
bit less predictable but easier to listen to. It was a long
journey as there are many musicians and singers involved.
The songs are all good songs with memorable choruses while
still not using too many cliché’s”.
The album is home to a number of top class musicians from
the Lion Music roster such as vocalists Bjorn Jansson (Tears
Of Anger) and Martin LeMar (Tomorrow’s Eve) who handle 3
songs each. In addition to Mattsson’s fiery fretwork is the
guitar talent of Anand Mahangoe (Sphere Of Souls, Solo).
Mistheria (Bruce Dickinson) contributes keyboard solos on 4
tracks whilst long time Mattsson collaborator Eddie
Sledgehammer plays drums. Mattsson himself handles all other
guitars, bass, keyboards and additional vocals.

Book of Reflections was put together by Lars Eric Mattsson
after having been approached by an Asian record company, and
once all the right members were found all the pieces started
to fit together extremely well and the result was much better
that one could have imagined! The idea was to create a fast
and furious yet very melodic album that would nether be too
complicated nor too simple and on which the vocal melodies
would stand out. Even though the musicians are all of very
high caliber this album is not about virtuosity its all about
the high energy songs.
The guitars of Rusty Cooley and Lars Eric Mattsson as well as
the keyboards of Vitalij Kuprij are nothing but breathtaking,
the solos on this album are some of the hottest ever on a Lion
Music release but Book Of Reflections is still more about good
high energy songs and the
vocals of the four lead singers of Book Of Reflections are all
outstanding.

Condition Red mixes progressive metal with hard rock,
neoclassical and fusion. The new album, simply entitled
Condition Red II, is quite different from what the band did on
their self-titled first album, even though some elements are
still present. This time all vocals are handled by Ella
Grussner who also plays some killer violin on a few spots on
the album. Drums are played by Gerald Kloos who is a member of
Empire (featuring Neil Murray, Tony Martin, Don Airey and Rolf
Munkes) guitars are once again played by Lars Eric Mattsson
and Alex Masi. Alexander King returns on keyboards just like
on the first album. Condition Red II contains 13 songs, of
which some are shorter instrumental interludes - and no song
is over 7 minutes, unlike on the first album where the focus
was on three very long pieces (and three shorter).

Condition
Red's debut album was written late 1999 and recorded between
January and April 2000. The lyrics are all about living in
the modern world and trying to stay alive but there is also
lots of instrumental moments on this release. Condition Red
are here to explore and develop new ground rather than
follow the steps of others, and it’s complicated rhythms and
arrangements are not like any other releases that we know
of, at least. Ella Grussner’s violin and vocals are an
essential part of this project, and this is a young woman we
bet will have a bright future in music. 2 of the best
guitarists around plus 2 amazing keyboardists, Derek
Sherinian who is well known for his work with Dream Theater,
Planet X, Playtupus and Alice Cooper plus amazing newcomer
Alexander King are giving the fans of shredding what they
want, but still the songs are always in focus. Ths is music
for people with open minds.

The
original line-up also recorded a second Vision album in 1993
but due to problems with our record label (It actually went
bankrupt) the album was never released and the band split
up. A few years later I tried to put the band together again
but it really did not work so I found this local singer
Randolp Reymers who does have a very good voice and he
helped me out finishing this album. I was quite tired of the
music business to be completely honest I was not very
inspired but I am glad I did it because soon after the fire
came back and I started working on my album "Obsession"
whcih I do consider to be my first step into finding my own
voice as a musician.

In 1991
I wanted to find a better singer than the guy I had been
working with previously and I also had this urge to put a
real band together. I recorded a few songs with Bjorn Lodin
but at that time we could not find a way to work together so
I continued to search until a friend of mine intoduced me to
another Swede, Conny Lind. We met, had a few beers and
recorded some rough demos and everything seemed to click.
Conny came up with the band name "Vision" and soon we were
recording our debut album. I have already had a few albums
released in Japan (and Europe) and several Japanese labels
were interested in Vision. After a bidding war we signed
with Apollon Inc/FEMS for Japan and Roadrunner for Europe.
The album did quite well and we did 3 videos for the
Japanese market. I wanted to call the "Vision" and nothing
else but the Japanese label wanted to use my name as well.

Astral Groove was recorded in 1995 after Lars Eric Mattsson
having played for about a year in a cover band doing Jimi
Hendrix and Blues classics, so it is no big surprise that
this release is pretty heavy on the blues vibe. Usually
described as Hard Rock with funk and blues influences Astral
Groove is a bit different from other albums that Lars had
been involved in. It was by accident that this project ever
came true. Lars had been writing the material with the plan
that the musicians in his 1994-95 cover band, Voodoo Chile
would record the songs, but it just did not work, so in
stepped vocalist Bjorn Lodin, straight from his own band
Baltimore, which had just released it's 4th album and also
split up. Bass player Michael Ahlskog had previously played
in VISION as well as on Lars' earlier solo recordings.
Drummer Thomas Tornefjell made the band complete. Several
reasons, both personal and commercial, killed the band which
never got a chance to perform live. But the music lives on -
and you can't deny that ASTRAL GROOVE was jam packed with
great feel!
